Gun #5 was a hot shot IX-inch Dahlgren.
Lieut. John R. Eggleston was at guns 4 and 5.
Littlepage (at gun 4) mentions that Jack Cronin was at gun 5.
It was Eggleston whose men were standing at idle during the battle with the Monitor and he told Jones "It is a waste of ammunition to fire at her."
