Mabry, was at the annual Civil War show in Mansfield, OH, first of May. Purchased a 1 3/4 by 1 3/4 inch piece of metal, inscribed: MADE FROM ARMOUR PLATE CONFEDERATE RAM MERRIMAC. I have not seen your piece, but I do not doubt it's authenticity. Email me if you desire. Tim
